We are happy to announce that the Azbuka International Children’s Orchestra in London will launch in January 2022 at the Azbuka Russian-English Bilingual school in Ravenscourt Park. Azbuka is a unique educational and cultural project in the UK, the leading Russian-English bilingual school and a charitable foundation open to the wider community of families in London and beyond. Azbuka Orchestra is open to all young musicians both from Azbuka and schools in the surrounding area.

 Our aims and vision –

  • All instruments will be considered for entry to the orchestra, making the ensemble unique.
  • The orchestra will be overseen and lead by professional international musicians and offers a unique experience for students to discover and play repertoire from different countries and a wide range of cultural and musical backgrounds.
  • We wish to empower our students through musical performance to reach new levels of artistic expression and to learn to work together as a team playing and performing music together.
  • We hope to bring our work into the public eye through regular concerts.

Barnardo’s Boloh Helpline is pleased to announce the expansion of our service to support the mental health and wellbeing of adult asylum seekers across the UK. This project is funded by the Home Office and is in addition to our current service that offers support to children, young people and their parents.

The Helpline will offer advice, signposting, emotional support and 8 free sessions of therapy by qualified Barnardo’s therapists. These sessions can take place remotely via telephone or online. Barnardo’s has a large pool of culturally informed therapists who speak a range of languages. Sessions can take place in your own language at a time that works for you.

Helpline Advisors can also offer practical support such as food vouchers and access to digital devices. We are continuing our partnership with Vodafone to ensure that asylum seekers can access support by providing refurbished tablets and mobile phones.

We welcome referrals from professionals via our referral form, as well as direct contact from asylum seekers by telephone, email or online chat.

You can make a referral to the Helpline here.

The Helpline is open Monday – Friday (10am-8pm) and Saturday (10-3pm) via phone, webchat and email.
