World Book Night!

with Hammersmith and Fulham Libraries

 Join us for….

A Jouster’s Life!

An exciting historical storytelling for all ages

Join us on 23 April at 19:30 – 20:00 GMT when will be joining storyteller Simon Waterfield in this exciting reenactment of life as a medieval Jouster!

https://jousters_life_storytelling.eventbrite.co.uk

We will find out….

What’s it really like being a medieval Jouster? And is a Squire’s life really that good?

Have you read the stories about the lives of the jousting knights, their bravery, and their chivalry?

We believe an explanation is required about what life is really like.

Meet a jouster and his squire telling their versions of the same day in their lives.

Are all knights chivalrous and nobly bred?

Are all squires devoted servants?

The truth will out!

Suitable for all ages

This is an online event that will take place via Zoom. After booking your ticket, you will be emailed log-in details on the day of the performance.

Book your ticket by clicking on the link below:

Directory of Grant Making Trusts 20/21

Now in its 26th edition, the UK’s best-selling guide to funding from grant-making charities is back.

The Directory of Grant Making Trusts offers the information you need to seek your charity’s share of over £5 billion – the annual total awarded by the 2,000 funders featured in this edition.

With data sourced directly from grant-making charities, each with the potential to give around £50,000 or more per year, no charity – big or small – should be without it.

Who is this book for?

This is the key information source for fundraisers, with which you can save time on finding funding prospects, target the grant-makers most relevant to your charity and discover funders you might not have known existed.

This book was voted fourth on The Guardian’s 2016 list of “Five must-reads for charity workers“.

What does it cover?

DSC’s flagship guide to grant-makers includes:

  • Concise information and contact details for every record
  • Total amounts of funding available for each grant-maker
  • Examples of beneficiaries in each listing, for guidance on the organisations previously funded
  • Extensive indexes divided by geographical area, field of interest and type of beneficiary, type of organisation, and type of grant available
  • Each grant-maker’s description of project types that can or cannot qualify for funding

HostNation Refugee befriending

Do you work with asylum seekers or refugees who may be lonely living in London?

We offer a befriending service to adult refugees who are socially isolated, spend too much time alone and don’t have enough to do.

We connect them to our volunteer befrienders – all screened and checked Londoners with a passion for the city and goodwill towards refugees.

The idea is a ‘friend’ who can help them participate and experience a more positive side of the city.

They commit to meet once or twice a fortnight over 3 months but many (80%) become firm friends.

Our criteria is: 18+, asylum seeker or refugee, lonely, speak reasonable English, stable (mental health/housing), social and curious, keen to practice their English and experience more of London.  They must also live within the M25 as HostNation only operates in Greater London.

If you know someone who fits this please tell them about us. This takes about 10 minutes with a secure connection to fill out the web referral questionnaire and consent to us holding personal data which ideally needs to be done together with the personal being referred, so they fully understand what is being offered and can tell us a bit about themselves and their interests.

To view/ download Referrals Leaflet 2019, click here.

To read more about “What is HostNation?”, click here.

Here is the link to the online referral page https://www.hostnation.org.uk/refer

We have over 100 unmatched befrienders across London’s boroughs waiting for your referral!

If you want to contact us before making a referral email info@hostnation.org.uk and to find out more, visit our website https://www.hostnation.org.uk/
