• Enthusiastic, efficient and self-motivated Volunteer Coordinator needed to join our Homeline team to cover maternity leave.  Homeline provides befriending, casework and social events through trained local volunteers to older people living alone and aims to address the detrimental effect of isolation on older people’s physical and mental well-being.  Applicants should  have a minimum of one year’s recent experience of managing, recruiting and training volunteers.  Experience of working with older people would be an asset.  

Salary: £28,156- £29,995 SCP 28-30 pro-rata for 28 hours

This new post is funded by the National Grid for 12 months initially. The aim is to work with 30 local people over 85 years of age who have recently been discharged from Charing Cross Hospital and to link them with local services in order to reduce isolation and the risk of future hospital admissions. The Project Worker will work closely with the British Red Cross who will be referring older people into the project.

The successful candidate will have experience in supporting older people and getting a project off the ground. You will have empathy, good communication skills, the ability to liaise with a range of external stakeholders and build relationships. The post is subject to DBS check and two satisfactory references.

The main aim of this role will be to deliver the DBS service, which will include carrying out DBS checks for staff and volunteers from Westminster Volunteering Involving Organisations and non- profit organisations.  Other responsibilities include delivering individual training sessions to checkers and general admin duties, such as entering data into database, booking DBS appointments, dealing with phone calls, emails and other aspects of work relating to DBS. You will also support the office DBS volunteer.

You will need to have proven track record in project management and excellent written and verbal communications skills – comfortable communicating with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
