Domestic Abuse Duty Assessment worker- Brent

The Brent IDVA and MARAC Coordination service is an exciting new project that will take Advance’s quality marked services to the borough of Brent. The service focuses on supporting survivors at high and medium risk of domestic abuse and providing them with high quality advocacy, support and advice to help them to know their options and lower the risk. The service is spread across two main locations in Brent: in a police station and in children’s social care offices. The post holder will work closely with statutory and voluntary sector agencies to support service users and improve partnership responses.

The post holder will have an excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on women and children. The post holder will also have an understanding of the criminal justice system, MARAC and safeguarding procedures and safety planning options available to survivors of domestic abuse.
The post holder will be skilled in risk management and safety planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis. Experience of direct work with female survivors of domestic violence, and advice or helplines and of working within safeguarding procedures is essential for this post, as is the need to adopt and promote a strong partnership approach to service provision.
