Take action now to ensure personal data flows freely from the EU/EEA to the UK

With just three weeks to go until the end of the transition period on 31 December, there is still time to prepare. You can find out what actions you may need to take by using the checker tool at gov.uk/transition and keep up to date with regular business readiness bulletins too.

If you receive personal data from the EU/EEA, I urge you to act now to ensure you can continue to lawfully receive data from your clients in the EU from 1 January 2021, whatever the EU decides. Specifically, this means:

  • You should take stock of the personal data you process prior to 1 January 2021.
  • If you receive personal data from a company based in an EU/EEA country, you should map your data flows and put in place alternative transfer mechanisms, such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), with any relevant EU organisations (the EU has yet to make a decision as to whether they accept that the UK’s data protection regime is still adequate).
  • Visit UK/using-personal-data-2021 for guidance on the actions your business or organisation needs to take regarding data protection and data flows.

It’s finally that time of the year. The year for families, communities, friends and neighbours to come together and celebrate Christmas.
The past year has caused hardships to many families, which has had an impact on people’s mental well-being especially children and young people.
We have all helped each other a great deal during these troublesome times.
This year we wanted to celebrate the White City & Wormholt community, especially the youth.

Come join us this festive season on the 26th of December ( 2pm – 4pm ) at Bridget’s Joyce Square for a youth gift giving day along with some mulled wine and mince pies for the adults.

If you can, please consider donating any new toys/gifts that we can distribute on the day.

Where can you donate your gifts:
The Hub@79 :Monday, Thursday and Friday ( 10 am to 4 pm )

Every year on Christmas Day, the Council have provided a festive feast for older people who would otherwise be all alone. As far as we know, Hammersmith & Fulham Council is unique in providing an event on Christmas Day itself – with an army of volunteers helping local isolated residents experience some Christmas cheer.

Obviously, the same event can’t be offered in 2020, but the Council is working with the Smile Brigade, and will be delivering a Christmas Meal, gifts and a friendly greeting to 600 local older people.

Applications for this year’s event are now closed, but donations and gifts are still welcome. Please click here
