Not-for-profit organisations can apply for grants of up to £2,000 for projects working to reduce disadvantage experienced by the most deprived people in the community such as the disabled, those living in poverty, voluntary carers and isolated older people. Larger organisations with a turnover in excess of £300,000 are unlikely to be successful with those located near to a Greggs shop most likely to receive awards. The funding is being made available through the Greggs Foundation Local Community Projects Fund. The closing date for applications is the 8th June 2020. Click here

We face an unprecedented challenge to our health, economy, businesses, personal finance and way of life. And many of those who normally help society – our charities – are going to face similar pressures right now too. To try and help I’m going to release £1,000,000 from my personal charity fund to provide grants of £5,000 to £20,000 to small registered charities, or local arms of bigger charities, across the UK – to help with specific UK coronavirus-related poverty relief projects. APPLICATIONS CLOSE AT 11.59pm ON WED 25 MAR 2020. Individuals, charities, community groups, statutory organisations and educational institutions can apply for grants of between £1,500 and £3,000 from the Lankelly Chase Foundations’s Connected Grants Programme to promote and support new conversations about severe and multiple disadvantage in their local area. The funding is available to cover costs incurred in organising and running an activity or event such as venue hire, catering, materials and staff. The events will be aimed at exploring and expanding on Lankelly Chase’s ‘Connected’ series of reports on the people who are affected by severe and multiple disadvantage and who are in contact with homelessness, substance misuse and criminal justice services. The closing date for applications is 9th April 2020. Click here

This study investigates the barriers to physical activity in older adults and the aim is to identify strategies which might help them to be more active. This will build upon our previous findings which indicated that exercise adherence is influenced by exercise history, individual preferences, perceived benefits of exercise, relationships within the group and with the instructor, the location and the elements of the sessions in active older adults. In order to effectively tailor exercise to inactive older adults, further research is needed to understand their specific needs, barriers, and attitude towards exercise.

In this current study, I will ask participants to take part in an interview (45-60 min) at a public place (easily accessible to the participants) or over the phone. I’ve just created a link to an online registration form which is confidential and compliant with GDPR of the university.
The link is: https://lsbu.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/inactive-experts Participants can sign up on this link, or via emailing me or calling/texting me.

The outcome of this study will help us to improve the current services and it might help to engage older adults to get more active.  Application ends June 14th.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
