In the new year, Stratford East welcomes Eclipse Theatre’s new play THE GIFT by Bruntwood Prize-winner Janice Okoh, directed by Dawn Walton.
As pioneers of putting Black British stories on stage, Eclipse Theatre’s previous shows include ★★★★★ hit Black Men Walking (Royal Court). Inspired by the life of Sarah Forbes Bonetta – an African girl gifted to Queen Victoria – THE GIFT is a subversive comedy drama about imperialism, cross-racial adoption and cultural appropriation.
