We are low on applications in Hammersmith & Fulham for The Tesco’s Stronger Starts Scheme, which currently has a focus on schools or any projects that work with children and young people. Here is the link to our website :  tescostrongerstarts.org.uk

The application process is very straight forward and designed to take up very little time. Shortlisted projects are displayed in their local Tesco stores for a 3 month voting period, and the top placed project will receive up to £1500, the 2nd – £1000 and the 3rd – £500. Funding must be used within a year.  I would be more than happy to discuss this with you or any schools.  It’s not a huge award, but the application is so easy which makes it very accessible.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, however, so if not successful this round they will be considered next.

The deadline for application this round is: Aug 1st

Our London project at AoC, is providing extra support specifically for London Chairs and Vice Chairs in the form of monthly in-person peer support events and a Co-Mentoring Scheme. This is thanks to specialist funder City Bridge Foundation.

Our mission is:

  • To help enable more London Chairs to lead more effectively
  • For Chairs to have access to a London network for mutual support
  • For more equity, diversity and inclusion among London Chairs

We have a great programme of monthly in-person London peer sessions lined up for the Autumn, kicking off in September and our co-mentoring scheme for London Chairs is going really well too and the application process is open for that, with the next matching taking place in October time. We’re into the second year of our London Project now and we are focussing on our EDI strategy this year too. So lots going on.

Our updated London Project web-page can be found online here.

We’re so keen to get the word out to as many London Chairs / Vice Chairs / Co-Chairs and aspiring Chairs as possible and these events and co-mentoring scheme are totally free of charge.

It would be great to connect with you and tell you a bit more about the peer support events and mentoring work that we are doing with London Chairs.

Are you interested in fire safety? Would you like to help improve the way the London Fire Brigade engages with local communities?

London Fire Brigade is looking to launch a number of local community forums to help make sure London’s communities are at the heart of everything we do.

We are looking for members of the community from across London to help us design the processes and future model for these new local community forums.

We would like to hear from you if you:

  • Are interested in fire safety
  • Want to help shape the way we engage with local communities in the future
  • Can share your ideas at meetings and take part in a small amount of project work
  • Are passionate about speaking up for seldom heard communities
  • Want to help design a local forum model which represents all Londoners.

The London Fire Brigade currently has a central community forum that meets monthly to help shape our services. We want to develop local forums to help shape our services at a local level and to do this we are setting up a Steering Group to design the future model for local community forums.

The Steering Group will meet weekly for 11, two-hour sessions at London Fire Brigade Headquarters in Southwark to co-design the processes and future model of local forums. The project will run from September to November 2024 . We can reimburse reasonable out-of-pocket expenses for attending meetings. All participants will receive a certificate of achievement recognising their contribution to the project.

If you are interested, please contact Wendy Bohan, Community Engagement Team, on 07395 369 268 or email community.engagement@london-fire.gov.uk by 16/08/24 for an initial chat.

This review has looked at recent statistics on topics such as health and wellbeing, children and young people, employment, income equality housing and homelessness
