Our series of FREE online courses, accredited by NCFE and TQUK, and funded by the UK Government has given people across the country the opportunity to understand mental health and its associated care. Explore different types of mental ill-health and feel confident helping someone experiencing a problem at this crucial time.

Charitable organisations and care homes for the elderly can apply for grants of up to £250 for activities which provide musical entertainment and related activities for the elderly. Some of the charities that have received grants in the past include the Theatre Chipping Norton to help fund high calibre music recitals in six Care Homes in the area; and Sue Ryder Care, Lancashire to fund access to music therapy workshops at Birchley Hall near Wigan and St Helen’s. The grants are made available through the charity Concertina and the next closing date for applications is the 31st October 2021. Click here
Schools in England, Scotland and Wales can apply for up to £500 worth of free outdoor equipment and two hours of professional outdoor training to help children connect with nature, become more active, and learn outdoors. Schools can choose from hundreds of different products to deliver outdoor learning and play. The funding is being made available through phase five of the charity Learning through Landscapes’ Local School Nature Grant scheme, and is funded by the players of People’s Postcode Lottery. This year, funding will also be open to Early Year’s settings which have their own building and more than five staff. There will be four funding rounds throughout the year. UK registered charities, or those affiliated with a registered charity working to help those at disadvantage in society can apply to the Leeds Building Society Charitable Foundation for support. Grants of between £250 – £1,000 are available to cover the costs involved in directly supporting those in need including those with disabilities, affected by homelessness, or with serious health issues. Previous grants have gone to organisations supporting young people in applying for jobs and towards the purchase of a portable multi-sensory environment, that will turn any room into a sensory room. The Foundation accepts applications from UK registered charities with a turnover of less than £1 million per year. The next deadline for applications is the 2nd August 2021. Click here
Small registered charities can apply for grants of up to £15,000 for projects working with young offenders; prisoners and ex-prisoners as well as young disadvantaged people at risk of criminal involvement. To be eligible for funding, local organisations such as those working in a village, estate or small town should normally have an income of less than £100,000. Those working across the UK or in larger areas should normally have an income of not more than £250,000. Grants are usually given for one year. The funding is being made available through the Weavers’ Company, a textile-related, charitable and sociable organisation and the next closing date for applications is the 19th November 2021.
