The Prince’s Trust Explore Enterprise Programme

Are you 18-30 years old and unemployed/working part-time? Have you ever wanted to run your own business but don’t know where to start? Then The Prince’s Trust can help!

 

If you’re keen to start a business, you can attend a free interactive workshop to learn about the nuts and bolts of starting and running a business, including: business planning, marketing, sales, raising capital, budgeting and tax. It could even land you a Level 1 Award in Exploring Enterprise.

The Prince’s Trust is running a 4-day Explore Enterprise Course from 23rd-26th February in Hammersmith (other dates also available). Afterwards, you can receive up to 3 years of support from a business mentor and apply for a loan with us.

Train to become a Bereavement Volunteer

Are you interested in training as a bereavement volunteer on the Cruse Awareness in Bereavement Care course? This 48-hour course in April and May is open to anyone who feels they are interested in this special and rewarding work.

 

Who can apply?

You do not need prior training or experience in counselling but interest in this particular area through personal experience is helpful.The ability to listen, show empathy and understanding is essential.We will give preference to qualified applicants who live in our local community, which is Kensington, Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham. This is the community we serve from our office in North Kensington.The dates for the course are shown below. Please make sure you can attend 90% of these sessions before you apply. The application deadline is 19 February, 2016.Please do not apply if you have had a significant bereavement in the last two years.

When is the training?

The dates for the course are as follows:

  • 4 Monday evenings starting April 11th30 till 9.30pm (no course Monday 2nd May Bank Holiday) ending Monday 9th May

AND

  • 5 Saturdays starting April 16th 10-5pm and ending 14th May

The cost for the 48 hours of training is £300. We are able to offer a limited number of bursaries.

Distribution of Carers Engagement and Co production Activity Dates

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC), Westminster City Council (WCC) and the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham (LBHF) are currently designing the tender for future carer services (for implementation from May 2017 onwards) by a process of engagement and co-production.

We would like to invite carers, providers and other key stakeholders to attend a series of meetings/workshops to shape the future provision of carers services.

Please find detailed below dates for a series of engagement and co production activities. Please note that each meeting is borough specific but you can attend any meeting you feel you would like to contribute to. Please also forward these dates to any other individuals/groups/organisations that you think might be interested.

Small Charities Fundraising Training Programme

The Foundation for Social Improvement (FSI), in partnership with the Small Charities Coalition, and GlobalGiving UK is managing the UK Government’s Small Charities Fundraising Training Programme.
Charities with an annual income up to £1m can sign up for a range of training opportunities that will run from February to June 2016.

These include:

• Face-to-face training

• Intensive one-to-one advice sessions

• Skilled volunteering matches

• Webinars

These will cover topics including:

• Developing a fundraising strategy

• Fundraising from trusts and foundations

• Developing corporate relationships

• Crowdfunding

LVSC and London for All are holding a day long conference to kick start the New Year.

We’ve seen the comprehensive spending review, while 2016 brings the London mayoral elections and further progression of the devolution programme. The conference will provide the VCSE sector with a space to think about what these and other challenges mean for their organisations and the people they work with. Exploring the political, economic, social and technological challenges and opportunities facing our sector, we will explore strategies to not just survive but thrive, to ensure the best outcomes for Londoners.

During the highly interactive day participants will have an opportunity to think about how the national and London picture will impact on their work, cohort and organisation and in the afternoon open space sessions we will explore how organisations can thrive rather than just survive.

We will hear from a range of speakers including Nick Davies (Public Services Manager, NCVO), Ben Rogers (Director,Centre for London), Tim Wilson (Principal Grants and Social Investment Officer, City Bridge Trust), Vivienne Hayes MBE (CEO,Women’s Resource Centre), Cllr Farah Hussain (LB Redbridge), Ross Diamond (Chief Officer, Redbridge CVS), Dominic Pinkney (Works 4U) and a representative from Clean Break.

Our breakout sessions will focus on:

1) Continuing to meet the need: working with Local Authorities following the CSR.

COMMUNITY MEDIATION SKILLS COURSE

 

Do you want to help others communicate effectively?

Calm’s Community Mediation Skills Course, delivered by qualified trainers, will teach you the life skills to help you deal more effectively and empathetically with those around you. They can also form the basis of a career in dispute resolution.

It is practical and interactive; a lively and engaging six days during which you will learn new skills and begin to develop them through plenty of realistic practice.

With one trainer per six delegates, you will be fully supported to practise your skills and achieve a real sense of self-awareness.

The skills taught are applicable to all relationships with others, whether personal or professional.

The course costs from £375, including all course materials, certification and lunches.
Accreditation is also available from the Open College Network awarding 60 Credits at Level 3.
