Criminal Justice IDVA
The Criminal Justice IDVA for the Impact Project will work within a dynamic, fast paced, crisis intervention, advocacy and support service to ensure the voice of survivors informs every stage of the criminal justice process. They will work within the team to make proactive contact and provide high quality advocacy and support to women aged 16 and over who access the IDVA service.
As an experienced domestic violence advocate, the post holder will be skilled in risk management and safety planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis. Experience of direct work with women survivors of domestic violence, of supporting women involved in criminal and civil justice systems and of working within safeguarding procedures is essential for this post, as is the need to adopt and promote a strong partnership approach to service provision. A key responsibility of this role will be to strengthen multi agency relationships and ensure agency accountability whist maintaining good communication and working relationships at all levels.
Social Care IDVA
The Social Care domestic violence project is a partnership project between Advance, DVIP, Standing Together and Hammersmith and Fulham Social Services which aims to embed early intervention and domestic violence homicide prevention bests practice into a multi agency whole family approach response to lead to better outcomes for those involved including children. The purpose of the Social Care IDVA role is to work closely with Social Services to support women who have had Social Services intervention due to domestic violence and to work closely with the project’s DVIP male practitioner who will work with the perpetrators of abuse to enable a whole family approach.
The post holder will be co-located at Hammersmith Social Services and will help raise their awareness, identification and response to those experiencing domestic violence, the post holder will also jointly work with Social Services and DVIP on cases to support service users and improve partnership responses. The post holder will have an excellent understanding of domestic violence and its effects on women and children.
The post holder will also have an understanding of children’s social care and care proceedings.

Living Medicine – Self Care for Coughs, Colds & Allergies
Saturday 10th September, 1pm to 5pm
With autumn now approaching, explore how resilience to infections can be improved through non-medical nutritional and herbal support. This practical session will include demonstrations, a walk in the garden, and a guide and utensils to take home.
Medical herbalist Alex Laird of Living Medicine will guide you on how to:
- Identify, smell and taste common healing plants
- Find out how plants’ defensive compounds promote and protect our own body functions
- Make food and herb remedies to treat simple coughs, colds and allergies
This is the second in a five part series of workshops but can be attended as a standalone session. It is ideal for anyone interested in plants, food and health. No previous knowledge is necessary, though we’d love you to share your own experience or family remedies. Alex Laird BSc set up the first herbal clinic in hospital dermatology at Whipps Cross Hospital and also practices at The Haven breast cancer support centre in Fulham.

Silver Sunday is the national day for older people to try something new and meet new people. It’s aimed at people aged 65 and over who may feel isolated or lonely.

QSIR: Practitioner is a nationally accredited program from the Advancing Change and Transformation (ACT) Academy that provides participants with the know-how to design and implement more productive services.
It is based on highly successful previous courses and offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes:

Participants attend for five days over a three month period, and must have an existing project or project idea. During the program they apply the learning from the course to their own improvement projects, being supported between workshops to help make them a success. They are therefore not only learning methodology in quality improvement, but actively changing and improving local services as they study.
‘Made of Money’ is running a 2 day Facilitator Training in London on 5th – 6th October 2016.
‘Made of Money’ is an award winning financial literacy resource, developed by anti-poverty charity Quaker Social Action. It aims to help groups talk about money and its impact on their lives, as well as learn vital money management skills. It is ideal to help front line workers offer support to those on low income, particularly in the run up to the introduction of Universal Credit, and all the welfare benefit changes.
‘Made of Money’ takes a different and innovative approach to financial literacy: it works holistically- with the whole person and the whole household. The resources aim to build confidence; resilience and help people identify their own values and attitudes around money, as well as covering basics like budgeting, borrowing and debt. We recognise that unless people’s own situations are explored and confidence is increased, they won’t change behavior long–term. This in turn builds a more stable platform for the whole household financially.
‘Made of Money’ also focuses on emotions around money, our experiences growing up, consumer culture, communication about money & the pressure of raising children on low income. The resources are all provided, fully reusable as well as really fun and engaging!

Outline of role
As a member of the Quality Development Advice Team in NRCSE this post will support community-led supplementary schools (out-of-school hours educational projects) within the London Boroughs of Brent/Barnet/Camden/Ealing/Hammersmith & Fulham and Westminster by providing mentoring and guidance towards quality assurance.
The postholder will be giving advice and guidance to management committee members and co-ordinators and visiting supplementary schools in operation to ensure that they are running safely and effectively (requires flexibility to work some weekends and evenings).
