The Hammersmith & Fulham Hive offers a new and creative way for the community to shape the borough through crowdfunded projects.

From community gardens to pop-up markets and festivals to art installations, if you have a project idea that will make your local area better then get involved.

Join crowdfunding platform Spacehive for a workshop at St Paul’s Hammersmith, where you will have the chance to develop your ideas and learn about how you can access additional funding avaliable from Hammersmith & Fulham council and other Spacehive partners, including GLL and the Mayor of London.

For the next funding round (deadline 30th September), The Young Hammersmith & Fulham Foundation will also be offering pledges of up to £1,000 to projects that benefit young people (0-25) in the borough, so all the more reason to come along on the day and find out more.

On the 18th September – Community Mediation Half Day Taster that only happens once a year.

No previous experience is necessary, this stand-alone course will get you started.

Mediation skills can be helpful in many situations as well as a rewarding vocation.

 

Description

  • Are you forever getting caught up in conflicts between your clients/residents/family/friends?
  • Are you looking for a way of ‘giving back’ to the community?
  • Interested to see a demonstration of the mediation process and learn some practical skills?
  • Three CPD points available for this half-day session through the College of Mediators

 

Training objectives:

• To gain an insight into and an understanding of conflict and conflict resolution
• To explore how people respond to conflict
• To understand the mediator’s role

 

Content includes:

• A demonstration of a mediation
• Our different responses to conflict
• How to help others in conflict and not get involved

 

This workshop is for individuals wishing to gain community mediation skills.

Housing staff find this workshop useful to enhance their skills to work more effectively with residents.

 

 

The course is delivered by an accredited and practising community mediator.

Supported by The Mayor of London’s Culture Seeds, The WoWC is a free, weekly, artistic expression project for women who are residents of White City Estate.

 

In the six painting workshops, participants can discover their creativity, build friendships, and share their stories through art in a fun and relaxed environment.

No art experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided.

 

The WoWC project is the brainchild of The RENA Initiative (Recognise, Empower & Nurture Artists).

 

The mission of this social enterprise is to create a world where art galleries and museums reflect the diversity of the local population, and where self-expression through visual arts is available for all.

 

The WoWC project is part of The RENA Initiative’s commitment to establish art programs in disadvantaged communities, creating the opportunity for empowerment, inspiration and improved mental health and well-being.

 

The WoWC commences on Thursday 1st August 2019 at 10:30am – 12:30pm at White City Community Centre.

Advance booking is essential as spaces are limited.

Priority will be given to residents of White City Estate who are either isolated, unemployed or elderly.

Petit Miracles creates beautiful bespoke furniture, at an affordable price, upcycled from hand-picked salvaged, antique and vintage pieces. They are a charitable social enterprise, teaching furniture restoration, interior design and basic DIY, to those needing help to get back into work.

They are hosting an open day in their upcycling workshop for people aged 18 -25, primarily in the H&F borough.

 

It is going to be a fun day with a DJ, refreshments, and of course, upcycling sessions.

 

Petit Miracle Interiors Ltd would love to have a packed house and ultimately, their aim is to inspire a young person, or more, to access our work experience programme.

Applications for our free Maker Challenge Summer Intensive programme are now open!

 

Over two weeks, local young people aged 14-18 will prototype, design and make with access to cutting-edge equipment in our state-of-the-art workshop.

 

We teach a crash-course in 3D printing, laser-cutting, woodworking, electronics, CAD, programming and working with materials.

At the end of the programme the young people will present their inventions and prizes will be awarded to the most creative designs.

 

Dates: 29th July or 12th August (Mon-Fri, 10am-4pm)
