This awareness week we are offering you free online training on the different categories and types of cancer with a focus on the study of cancer support.

For many individuals, diagnosis can be a daunting and overwhelming time.

Being able to access the right levels of care and services provides valuable support when people need it most.

As cancer treatments are improved and more people survive cancer, an awareness of the impact of living with cancer long-term and knowledge of how to support individuals is vital for anyone caring for someone with cancer.

The free online training consists of 4 manageable units:

There are no exams!

You will complete assessment questions based on the skills and knowledge you have gained from the above units.

Expert tutor support is available via email, text, or phone call.

Start

The Lyric Hammersmith is a theatre with a national reputation for delivering life-changing programmes for young people. Our flagship programme for 16 to 25 year olds is START, an accredited six week training course for NEET (not in education, employment or training) young people with the aim of re-engaging them in education, employment or training. Throughout the six weeks 10 young people will broaden their perspectives by developing a range of characters and scenarios and rehearsing alternative behaviours in a safe environment. With two professional directors they explore issues which are relevant to their own lives and foster a group ethic of inclusivity, accessibility, encouragement, respect and affirmation whilst creating their own original piece of theatre which they will perform at the end of the course. For many this alternative form of engaging with skills development and the responsibilities of team work is the first time they have been willing to learn. This project is underpinned by an Arts Award accreditation.

I look forward to hearing from you. Please feel free to contact me on 020 8741 6822 ext 434 or email participation@lyric.co.uk

For Mental Health Awareness Week this year, we’re raising awareness of the impact of loneliness on our mental health.

One in four adults feels lonely some or all of the time.

The longer we feel lonely, the more we are at risk of mental health problems.

By understanding different mental health problems and learning new skills and coping strategies we can start to tackle mental health problems together.

Our series of government-funded online courses is your perfect starting point to do just this…
