This is to invite those groups, who are in the process of developing their capacity, to a opening event run by a charity called Pilotlight. The charity Pilotlight is a unique, capacity building organisation offering free tailored strategic planning support to charities and social enterprises that are tackling disadvantage in the UK. They match  charity leaders and social enterprise leaders with teams of senior business people and facilitate a year long engagement to plan for sustainability, development and growth.

Sobus is pleased to be able to work with Pilotlight to secure placements for organisations registered with us. The process will involve an introductory session which will be held on either 24th June at 3:30pm or 27th June at 9:00am. These opening session will last 2 hours. After this you will be asked to make a formal application should you be interested in taking up a place on the Pilotlight programme.  The whole process lasts for 10 – 12 months and requires you to attend mentoring sessions with a team of business leaders who guide you through a planned process enabling your organisation develop. I would strongly suggest that this would help organisations that struggle with funding and require added support.

Please let me know if you are interested and let me know which date you can attend. Please if you are not certain then take a look at the Piloltlight website: http://www.pilotlight.org.uk

If you could come back to me as quickly as possible I would be grateful. Only so many places are available ……

If you are interested please email Nigel Jacques: nigel.jacques@sobus.org.uk

The countdown is on for Carers Week 2016!

This year’s focus is on building Carer Friendly Communities; communities which support carers to look after their family or friends well, while recognising that they are individuals with needs of their own.

To celebrate Carers Week we have a busy week of activities for Hammersmith and Fulham carers.

To book on to events and trips please call 020 8960 3033 / email info@carers-network.co.uk

Monday 6 June we kick off the week with a trip to Chiswick House at 1.30pm. We will be able to provide free entry to the house – then, after your visit you can enjoy the gardens.

Tuesday 7 June we’ll be exploring The Thames on a River Cruise. We have a number of tickets available which enable
you to hop on and off the boats as many times as you like during the day. We’ll be meeting at Westminster Pier at 11am
where you can collect your ticket and we’ll depart on the 11.30am boat to Greenwich.

Wednesday 8 June we’ll be celebrating Carers Network’s 25th birthday in style, at the Beethoven Centre, W10 4JL.
Come along to join in the fun from 1pm. There’ll be tea and cake and Carers Time Bank members will be demonstrating
their skills – we’ll also be inaugurating the Great Beethoven Carers Bake Off!

Thursday 9 June we will have Advice and Wellbeing Workshops at the Mencap Centre, 65 Aspenlea Road, W6
8LH from 10.30am – 3.30pm. This will include a number of interactive workshops and a light lunch will be provided.

Friday 10 June finally – and like the River Cruise, back by popular demand – we will be organising a guided tour of
The Houses of Parliament. The group will be meeting at Westminster tube station at 9.30am for a 10am tour.

Booking on to Carers Weeks Events

  • Tickets for River Cruise and Houses of Parliament tour are prioritised on a first come first served basis for carers who did not go on these trips last year.
  • To ensure as many carers as possible have the chance to be involved, carers will only be able to book onto one of either the River Cruise, Houses of Parliament tour or trip to Chiswick House.
