Hannah Lennox has recently taken up the post of Child Poverty Solicitor with Hammersmith and Fulham Law Centre until August 2021, with the hope of further funding.  We are therefore able to increase our welfare benefits advice service and are emailing to share details of:

  1. The Welfare Benefits telephone advice line we operate on Thursdays between 2pm and 5pm – claimants and advisers are welcome to call 020 8148 5272 to obtain advice about a welfare benefits matter.
  2. Our Welfare Benefits form-filling clinic – available by appointment only on Wednesday afternoons, and currently taking place remotely, volunteers can assist with the completion of application forms for Personal Independence Payment, Employment and Support Allowance, Attendance Allowance and Universal Credit.

If you would like to discuss a complex case, please contact Hannah via the Welfare Benefits advice line on Thursday afternoons or by emailing Hannah.lennox@hflaw.org.uk

Bishop Creighton House (BCH), established in 1908, runs projects for older and disabled people and families with children under five.

Despite the challenges of the pandemic, we continue to offer vital services for the most vulnerable, promoting their independence: from enabling people to make friendships, develop their interests and find work; to helping them feel safe and secure at home, avoiding residential care.

We want to recruit more trustees. Trustees, who are volunteers, meet ten times per year. We have well advanced plans to redevelop our popular community centre, on Lillie Road in Fulham, with building work due to begin in early 2021, so it’s an exciting time to become a trustee.

We are particularly interested in applications from the diverse range of groups we are here to help, including those from BAME populations and the LGBTQ+ community. As an organisation that embraces diversity and accessibility, BCH is committed to promoting an organisation that represents the communities we serve and ensuring inclusion in everything we do.

As well as ensuring we are a diverse board, we are interested in people who have skills and experience in any of the following: charities; social work; education; disabilities; fundraising; business and finance; building development.

Above all, you will need a commitment to social justice and improving the lives of disadvantaged people in H & F and surrounding areas.

If you are interested, please email Lee Smith, chair of the board of trustees, enclosing a CV or a brief summary of your experience and skills: lee.smith@kingsmithcare.co.uk

Cyber Hackers have used Coronavirus to prey on remote workforce’s and IT systems, as criminals attempt to steal money or data. The resulting impact on businesses and reputations can be significant.

This webinar addresses how businesses can ensure they have implemented security controls, secured sensitive data, and are protected from cyber-attacks. It also looks at how businesses can mitigate many of the main attacks and improve security awareness with their staff.

Now more than ever, mental health awareness is important. This week (10-16 May) is #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, the UK’s national week to raise awareness of mental health. The week, now in its 21st year, is hosted by the Mental Health Foundation. Find out more here.

From the food donations we receive, we create food parcels which we send on to local elderly and vulnerable residents, NHS staff and other food banks who support thousands of people in need. Shop and Donate is also an online shop, where we sell a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables.

The proceeds from this go into sustaining and improving our growing services! Together with our sister organisation AY Group Community Services CIC we have been very successful in supporting disadvantaged individuals within our community and across London.
