International Women’s Day (IWD) is marked annually on March 8. It’s the biggest women-focused day of the year and sees groups worldwide celebrate and support women’s advancement in their own special, most relevant way. All IWD activity is valid, that’s what makes IWD so inclusive.

The theme of IWD 2026 is “Give To Gain”, encouraging a mindset of generosity and collaboration.

Give To Gain emphasizes the power of reciprocity and support. When people, organizations, and communities give generously, opportunities and support for women increase. Giving is not a subtraction, it’s intentional multiplication. When women thrive, we all rise.

Whether through donations, knowledge, resources, infrastructure, visibility, advocacy, education, training, mentoring, or time, contributing to women’s advancement helps create a more supportive and interconnected world.

If you are planning an event or activity that could highlight the role of women in the VCSE, please shout out and we can publicise.

Info on this year’s campaign and IWD events can be found here: https://www.internationalwomensday.com

With energy costs still high and the colder not going anywhere in a hurry, many households are struggling to stay warm, manage bills, and find the right support. We have vouchers available still. We have supported around 20,000 household across the UK in December and January alone.

At The Wise Group, we understand that tackling fuel poverty takes more than quick fixes. That’s why our Home Energy Advice Team HEAT offers a unique, fully funded relational mentoring service — helping households across England and Wales not only through the crisis but towards long-term stability.

How We’re Different

Unlike many advice lines or short-term schemes, HEAT provides:

  • Personal, one-to-one mentoring – a dedicated Energy Mentor works with each household throughout their journey, not just a single call.
  • Independent, expert advocacy – we liaise directly with energy suppliers, helping to resolve disputes and reduce energy debt.
  • Tailored solutions – we assess each household’s specific circumstances to unlock grants, vouchers, and efficiency upgrades.
  • Long-term empowerment – our support helps people build skills and confidence to manage their energy use and bills sustainably.

What We Can Help With

  • Managing and reducing fuel debt
  • Tackling energy emergencies
  • Accessing grants, vouchers, and hardship funds
  • Understanding tariffs and billing
  • Improving home energy efficiency

Our mentors stay connected until the household is confident and stable — ensuring every customer feels supported, not left behind.

Share your experience and enter a prize draw for one of seven £50 vouchers. Click the survey link here.

  1. Join a focus group or interview

For those willing to share deeper insights. Participants will receive a shopping voucher as a thank-you. Join a focus group/interview here.

Deadline: Sunday 1 February 2026

All feedback will directly inform a roadmap for sustainable, community-led infrastructure support across England.

Each year, the Sheila McKechnie Foundation celebrates the best campaigns and campaigners.
