Non-essential retail confirmed to reopen from Monday 15th June

 The Business Secretary confirmed yesterday evening (Tuesday 9th June) that shops in England selling non-essential goods will be able to reopen from Monday 15 June, thanks to continuing progress in meeting our 5 tests.

High street retailers and department stores, including book shops, electronics retailers, tailors, auction houses, photography studios, indoor markets, and shops selling clothes, shoes and toys, will be allowed to open their doors again provided they follow the COVID-19 secure guidelines set out by the government in May.

Employers should also display a notice visibly in their shop windows or outside their store to show their employees, customers and other visitors that they have followed this guidance. The downloadable sign can be found here: https://bit.ly/CV19Sign

Carers Network’s Online Programme of Activities for Carers

During the week Carers Network will run a virtual programme of activities for local carers. See the full programme for the week here.

On Monday 8 June our CEO Sally Miller will be hosting a Welcome to the Week Zoom at 11am. She will be joined by carers, local councillors, commissioners from council and the Carers Network team. The theme for this year’s week is ’Making Caring Visible’ to ensure that carers get the information and support they need from services and the wider public. Unpaid carers are currently dealing with more challenges than ever before, with the pandemic having done a lot to hide carers, confining them to their homes more and making them less visible. This makes it more important than ever that we come together to recognise the role played by unpaid carers, ensuring they are valued and well-supported.

Fire Safety Guidance Note: Returning to Work After the Coronavirus Lockdown

Emergency evacuation plans Do you need to update your plan to incorporate social distancing into your evacuations and fire drills? Read our advice.

Fire alarm systems Has your usual testing and maintenance schedule been disrupted? It’s time to check your alarms, extinguishers and other systems.

Fire doors Are staff propping open doors to avoid touching them when they should be kept shut? Know the risks.
