Barclays has reopened its 100×100 programme, announcing that 50 more grants of £100,000 each will be awarded to UK charities that are working to support vulnerable people and communities impacted by COVID-19. Community organisations are invited to apply for funding to help tackle poverty and inequality in London. The Trust for London’s Connected Communities Programme will provide funding for initiatives which help disadvantaged and underrepresented people to access their rights and entitlements, and to speak out about issues which directly affect them. There is no minimum or maximum size of grant, however, the average grant will be around £80,000 and can be spread over one to three years. Grants do not normally exceed £150,000. Priority will be given to charities led by and for Black and minoritised groups and Deaf and Disabled people. The deadline for applications is 1pm on the 5th October 2021. Registered charities and exempt bodies in London undertaking building projects of less than £200,000 can apply for grants of between £5,000 and £10,000. The building work can include general refurbishments or a specific scheme; repairs; creating disabled access; or fulfilling of Health and Safety requirements or fire protection. The Primary Science Teaching Trust (PSTT) is inviting nominations for their Primary Science Teacher Awards 2021 which recognises talented science teachers from early years education through KS1 and KS2 across the UK. The Awards are open to innovative and creative primary school teachers (full or part-time) who inspire colleagues, engage pupils in science, and contribute to developing science in their school and beyond. Winners will receive a package including £1,000 prize money, science resources for their school, and an invitation to join the PSTT Primary Science Teacher College as a College Fellow. Anyone involved in primary education can make a nomination. The form is usually completed by the nominee’s Headteacher. The deadline for submissions is midnight on the 14th January 2022. Click here

The National Lottery Community Fund and The Ubele Initiative, on behalf of the Phoenix Way Partners, has announced a new £50 million partnership to boost funding and support to black and minoritised community-led charities and grassroots groups across England. The ‘Phoenix Way’ will create a series of national and regional panels from leaders from black and minoritised communities who will work with the National Lottery Fund to identify the challenges faced by those with lived experience of racism and racial dipartites, and award funding to charities and grassroots groups best placed to help their communities thrive. The programme will be designed and developed over the summer, with the aim of awarding funding for the next five years from autumn 2021. The 2021-22 round of the Tampon Tax Fund (£11.25 million) will close to applications at midnight on Sunday 4 July 2021. Grants of £350,000 or more are available to organisations delivering projects that improve the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged women and girls or support those affected by or at risk of violence or abuse. Grants of up to £2,000 are available to support the needs of vulnerable children and young people who have experienced a recent crisis or change in life that has had a significant impact on their social and emotional wellbeing and their education. The funding is being made available through the Buttle UK’s Chances for Children Grants. Support might include items and activities to support learning and development such as laptops, books, wi-fi, educational toys, tuition, etc; clothing and school uniforms; and social, sporting and leisure activities; and items for children/young people’s bedrooms. The National Lottery Community Fund has announced that round 2 of the £4 million Local Connections Fund has re-opened for applications. The Local Connections Fund provides grants of £300 – £2,500 to small, local organisations (with an annual income of £50,000 or less) that are working to reduce loneliness by helping people build connections across their communities. A total of £2 million is available in this funding round. Organisations that received funding in the first round, will not be eligible for funding in the second round.
