The Peter Sowerby Foundation – Increasing Access Fund

The Peter Sowerby Foundation has announced the £1.4 million Increasing Access Fund. The fund is intended to support organisations to develop new services that respond to the Covid-19 situation, or to adapt existing services to meet local and national needs. Three categories of grants are available to organisations working within the areas of healthcare innovation, the arts, environment and community (particularly with disadvantaged young people). Applications close at 5pm on Monday 16 November. More information on eligibility and how to apply can be found here.

Isla Foundation’s Tipping Point Grants

Applications are open for the Isla Foundation’s Tipping Point Grants. Funding of up to £40,000 is available to any organisation in the UK that is addressing the issue of homelessness. The deadline for applications is Thursday 12 November. Find out more.

Baroness Stowell Will Not Seek a Second Term at The Charity Commission

The chair of the Charity Commission, Baroness Stowell, will step down from the role in February. Civil Society have reported that she said: “It is a huge privilege to be chair of the Charity Commission, I will say that, and certainly between now and when I finish at the end of February I am going to keep on the mission that I have been on since I arrived.” Find out more.

West London Business Awards 2021 Entry Deadline Extended

A number of businesses have been in touch to request a little more time to complete (or start!) their entries to the West London Business Awards 2021.  In response we are extending the deadline beyond the weekend to Wednesday 28 October, giving you five more days to complete your nominations!

With an extra weekend allowed for entries, you are strongly encouraged to make your entry for one of our awards categories ASAP. Entries are accepted from all organisations in West London! – For the full list of boroughs see our website.

Whether you have a nomination already in progress, or you are starting your entry for the first time, you can make use of our dedicated nomination portal until 10pm on Wednesday 28 October.

Grants to Cover Running Costs for Small Charities (UK)

Grants of £300 to £2,000 are available to small charities to help them to pay for with running and core costs. The funding is available to registered charities (Community Interest Companies are excluded) working in the areas of literature, arts and heritage; social welfare; environmental causes and animal welfare; education and training; and healthcare. The funding is being made available through the Marsh Christian Trust. There are no application deadlines. Examples of the support given include core costs for Compaid, a digital skills centre in Kent that supports people with disabilities and sensory impairments and Glassdoor, an organisation that offers shelter to the homeless in London. New FREE Peer-to-Peer Networking Programme for SMEs

West London Business has been selected by London Business Hub to deliver the Government’s new Peer Networks programme locally.

This programme will establish diverse groups of business leaders from across West London to work collaboratively through business issues and widen professional networks.

Each network will use interactive action learning to enable you to discuss your own challenges, gain and reflect on valuable feedback from your peers, and implement practical solutions to overcome problems and challenges.

From finance and HR to sales, marketing and more, expert facilitators will work with you to give you the flexibility to create a trusted support network – helping you to build and strengthen your business and improve its overall performance.
