The Rise Up Programme is a free training initiative designed for individuals working with young people in both paid and voluntary capacities. This includes faith leaders, sports coaches, teaching assistants, youth workers, and community leaders to name a few. Funded by the VRU, this programme aims to provide up-to-date and relevant training to practitioners, enhancing their confidence and skills in youth work and providing them the tools to best support the young people they work with.

The programme offers two versions, both of which allow practitioners to join a growing network of Youth Practitioners who connect through themed networks and WhatsApp Communities.

A recent report from the Cyber Security Breaches Survey found that around a third of charities report having experienced some kind of cyber security breach or attack in the last 12 months. This increases to two-thirds for charities with an income of £500,000 or more.

The National Cyber Security Centre offers a range of tools and guides to help individuals and organisations understand how to reduce cyber risks, including free online training for small organisations and charities.

SAY is working with ‘Click Start London’ to provide an amazing opportunity for young Londoners aged 18-25 to secure employment or apprenticeships in the digital/tech sector! ‘Click Start’ is a free 4-week digital skills course that has live opportunities with industry-leading companies, including Amazon, BT Group, Cisco, QA, and small and medium businesses across London.

We would particularly like to encourage females and those from underrepresented groups to take part.

The 4-week programme is in-person and will be delivered at Morley College (North Kensington), Wornington Road, W10 5QQ from 16th May – 14th June 2024. The course provides training in the fundamentals of digital marketing, social media management, business ownership, client-facing skills, and data analysis with certificates in Google Digital Garage and Excel. Candidates will also receive class-based and 1:1 sessions on improving CVs, cover letters, interview techniques and building confidence and professional work skills, and will get the opportunity to work collaboratively with real life tech companies to pitch ideas to boost their businesses. As well as this, over the four weeks, learners develop original business ideas in teams – from paper posters to professional business pitches, including websites, social media, and mock apps, which they then present during a ‘dragon den’-style event at the end of the programme in front of industry experts!

For up to 6 months after the course, candidates will receive employability support to empower them towards an apprenticeship, job or other positive outcome.  As well as this, throughout the programme and at future networking events, candidates will be supported to explore pathways into digital careers and apprenticeships with industry-leading companies, including Amazon, BT Group, Cisco, QA, and small and medium businesses across London.

To be eligible for the programme, candidates must be:

  • Aged 18-25
  • Based in London
  • Not in employment, education or training during the course. 

During the 4-week programme travel and lunch will be covered for candidates. We are pleased to announce that Exit Hate UK will be delivering a FACE-TO-FACE training session, being hosted by Highgate Wood School, and have a few spots available.

The session will cover several topics around grooming, why the Extreme Right Wing is targeting specific groups of people, and also ways in which we as a community can support individuals away from extremism, getting them the right support.
