These courses are extremely straight forward and usually take up to 6 – 8 weeks. They can be completed either online or paper based. This is without the staff taking time out of their working day as they can access a laptop or complete this paper based anywhere. They are not required to attend any classroom sessions and can be completed in their own time.

The new GDPR comes in to effect in May 2018. Its main provisions are to:

  1. impose new requirements to collect, store and process individuals’ personal information, with significant financial penalties for non-compliance.
  2. place an increased emphasis on accountability and transparency so you should ensure that you have up-to-date records relating to the personal data that they hold, including where the data came from and who it has been shared with.
  3. review any privacy notices you have in place.
  4. identify any ‘lawful basis’ for processing activity within the GDPR, record this and update your privacy notices accordingly. The GDPR will modify some individuals’ rights, depending on the lawful basis. If you use consent as your lawful basis for processing, clients will have a greater right to have their data deleted, if they so wish.
  5. ensure that adequate security systems are in place to protect data, and to detect, report and investigate any data breaches.

In Kind Direct, one of the Prince’s Charities, distributes goods donated by companies to charities, not for profit organisations and social enterprises.

Goods range from cleaning products, toiletries, clothes, toys and a range of other items that can be used to:

  • Give to people you support
  • Clean and maintain facilities
  • Fill goody bags for events

Although not a traditional funder, In Kind Direct helps charities to save money on everyday essential items. Charities can then use the money they’ve saved for other more important projects/outgoings.

In regards to how they work, charities register for free and pay a small charge for the service which includes delivery.
