We are back to offering select&collect and essential computer use only in the three library branches open at the moment – Chelsea, Kensington Central and North Kensington libraries.

But our online library of books, newspapers, magazines, comics, audiobooks, dictionaries, language-learning platform and more is available to you at all times, remotely, with just your library card.

We are continuing to provide a full programme of online events too! 

Join us for talks, workshops and book clubs, as well as a boosted virtual offer for children and adults on our social media platforms.

Funding for Projects that Enable Black Women and Girls Reach their Full Potential (UK)

Grants of up to £20,000 are available to black-led grassroot organisations and projects in the UK that are working to eliminate barriers to progress for black women and girls. The funding is being made available through the Crown Fund UK; an initiative supported by Dove to help eradicate race-based hair discrimination and drive real and actionable change. Funding is available for projects that address appearance based prejudice and discrimination; education and vocational training; emotional or psychological health; empowerment; individual growth and success; leadership and career planning; mentorship; and advocacy. The fund will open for applications on the 4th January 2021 and close at 5pm on the 21st January 2021.

Grove Neighbourhood Centre Annual General Meeting & News

The Grove Neighbourhood Council will be holding its Annual General Meeting on 6 January 2021 between 3.30 to 4.30pm in the Upper Hall of the Church of the Holy Innocents, Paddenswick Road, Hammersmith, London, W6 OUB. You should be aware that no lifts are available to the Upper Hall.  The Annual General Meeting will be limited to 30 people to maintain social distancing. There will also be no speaker or refreshments. If you would like to secure your place please e-mail or call the Centre. You may also like to know that The Grove Neighbourhood Centre is selling Tea Towels designed and photographed by local resident Annabel Moeller and sponsored by Horton and Garton. All proceeds go to the GNC. The Tea Towels are £5 each or £20 for 5. They are available at the Centre’s Reception (ring bell 1).  Our office Opening Hours: Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm.

NAVCA Appoints New Chief Executive

The National Association of Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA) has appointed a new Chief Executive to succeed Jane Ide, who stepped down last month. Maddy Desforges is currently the chief executive of NAVCA member Voluntary Action Sheffield. She will be taking up her new role in March 2021. Find out more.

Government Publishes New Procurement Green Paper

A green paper is a government policy consultation paper which is sets out planned policy reforms for people to respond to, which then may be subsequently published as a white paper and further legislation as required. This green paper sets out government proposals on the procurement of public services in the context of Britain leaving the EU. The stated aim is to ‘speed up and simplify procurement processes’ including for charities. The consultation closes on 10 March 2021. Find out more.
