In December 2021, the UK Government published a Consultation report called Human Rights Reform: A Modern Bill of Rights. In this document they concluded that the Human Rights Act (HRA) will soon be replaced with a new bill of rights. However, on the same day, an independent panel concluded that actually the HRA is working well and doesn’t need changing. This BIHR unofficial guide explains the Human Rights Act and the Consultation, and provides ways that you can respond. The consultation ends 8th March 2022. To check it out, click here.

The More Than A Game football programme includes free weekly football sessions for adults aged 18 years old and above of all abilities and experiences who would like to improve their mental health and wellbeing. Specifically, we use physical activity as well as psycho-education to benefit our participants’ physical health, wellbeing and knowledge around mental health. The sessions last for an hour and include football and physical activity, and reflective discussions and activities around different mental health and wellbeing topics. The wellbeing discussions aim to increase self-awareness and protective factors against experiencing mental health difficulties, such as healthy coping strategies and increased social connections.

At the moment there are 3 weekly sessions:

  • Tuesdays (2pm-3pm) at Kingsmeadow Athletics Centre in Kingston
  • Thursdays (1pm-2pm) at Hurlingham Park in Fulham
  • Fridays (2pm-3pm) at Tooting and Mitcham Hub in Merton
