In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, BBC Children in Need are expanding their Emergency Essentials programme to include a broader range of basic essentials to support children and young people living with severe poverty across the UK. The fund supports families with children who are living with financial, health and social difficulties, by providing items that meet children’s most basic needs such as kitchen appliances, furniture, baby equipment, beds, clothing, and other items and services that are critical to children’s wellbeing. Applications must come through a registered referral agency that is supporting the family or young person. The programme is delivered by Family Fund Business Services. The Tesco Bags of Help Programme has been relaunched as the Tesco Community Grants programme to support local good causes that focus on helping children and families across the UK. Registered charities, voluntary and community organisations, schools, parish/town councils and other not-for-profit organisations can apply for grants of £500, £1,000 or £1,500. Three projects from each local area will be shortlisted to go to the public vote by Tesco customers every three months, with grants awarded depending on the number of votes their project receives. The types of projects that could be supported include those which help to fight holiday hunger, tackle mental health, support young people, and host community events. From the 12th April 2021, small organisations working with marginalised groups will be able to apply for grants of up to £30,000 for projects and activities that have the potential to have a transformational impact on their organisation. Transformational impact includes helping an organisations become more sustainable, more efficient, to grow significantly or enabling an organisation to take a major step forward of some kind. The funding is being made available through The Fore, a seed funder for the non-profit sector. The funding is available to any registered charity, CIC, CIO or Community Benefit Society with a turnover of under £500,000 in the last financial year. To apply for funding, organisations must first register some basic contact details at the start of each funding round. The number of registrations accepted for each round is capped and registrations are run on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the cap is reached, the round is closed, so please register early (Registrations open at 10am).
Voice4Change England (V4CE) are pleased to announce the Windrush Community Fund. This fund is open to community and grassroots groups and organisations to bid for financial assistance from a £500,000 fund to help ensure that community groups can give support to those of the Windrush generation who may have faced difficulties in demonstrating their status or who may have suffered losses because of this. In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Little Lives UK are making grants of up to £1,500 available to support London based organisations working with underprivileged children who are in need of support during the crisis. Charitable children’s groups and organisations, such as play groups or sports classes, can apply for funding from the Children’s Community Support Programme to provide a range of initiatives which allow children to access free services and support. Funding could also be used for the purchase of equipment such as sports equipment or to help groups remain sustainable during the crisis. Not for profit youth organisations that support disadvantage young people (aged 14 – 25) can apply for grants of up to £90,000 spread over three years to help them to sustain or expand their work. The funding is available to support the core operating costs of the applicant organisation. Examples of what can be funded include developing volunteers; additional fundraising or income generation capacity; and upgrading IT systems or website to reach young people online; etc. The funding is being made available through the Paul Hamlyn Foundation Youth Fund and applications can be submitted at any time.
