The latest round of Nationwide’s £4 million Community Grant Programme is awarding grants of between £10,000 and £50,000 to projects that support people in housing need, in original or creative ways. Projects that ‘help charities get back on their feet after the impact of Covid 19’ will be favoured. Charities, charitable incorporated organisations, community land trusts and housing co-operatives are eligible to apply. Funded projects will also get community and volunteering support. The round will close when the cap has been reached, or on Monday 21 June 2021.
Grants of £5,000 or £12,500 are available for Black-led charities and social enterprises disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 in the UK. The fund aims to help organisations find new methods of delivery post-COVID-19, test their viability and develop action plans for implementation. Grants of between £5,000 and £12,500 are available to UK based Black-led organisations working in communities that have been disproportionately impacted by Covid-19. The funding is being made available by Do it Now Now’s Common Call grants programme and is specifically aimed at supporting charities and social enterprises led by people that identify as Black or Mixed with Black. Priority will be given to organisations led by people with lived experience and that are creating impact in underserved communities and providing services to people that have been adversely affected by the COVID crisis in terms of physical health, mental health and/or financial sustainability. The Ubele Initiative has joined Social Investment Business’s £12.5m Enterprise Development Programme as the Black and Minoritised Communities sector partner. Charities and social enterprises serving black and ethnic minority communities will now be able to apply for grants typically worth up to £30,000 along with support from the Black and Minoritised Communities Enterprise Development Programme which aims to build resilience in organisations and help them to develop their trading plans. Organisations apply onto the programme and, if accepted, work alongside the relevant sector-lead to outline a package of support that best fits with their specific needs. The Hedley Foundation are inviting applications from small-to-mid-size registered charities helping to improve the quality of life of people in the UK, particularly those who are disadvantaged and vulnerable. The Foundation typically makes around 250 awards of up to £5,000 each year for initiatives which benefit the lives of young people, disabled people, elderly people, the terminally ill and otherwise disadvantaged people and their carers. Occasional larger sums are given to charities where high impact can be achieved. Applications should be received at least 28 days before the next review meeting on the 28th July 2021. Click here
Community groups, charities and grass root organisations across the UK can apply for funding to raise awareness of the Windrush Scheme, the Windrush Compensation Scheme or both. The Home Office is making a total of £500,000 in funding available for phase two of the Windrush Community Fund. Eligible organisations can apply for grants of between £2,500 and £25,000 for activities including holding events, producing and distributing marketing materials, accessing and using communication channels, and securing support from partners. Grants of between £15,000 and £75,000 are available to charitable organisations which provide care and services for older people, particularly if they have a neurodegenerative condition or are isolated. The Wolfson Foundation will provide funding for new build, refurbishment or equipment projects which aim to provide increased access to services for new and existing users, improve the quality and range of services, and improve the financial stability of the organisation. Match funding is required for projects costing more than £50,000. There is a 2-stage application process and the next stage 1 closing date is the 1st July 2021. Grants of up to £75,000 are available to special schools and colleges for children and young people with special educational needs. Grants are awarded towards capital costs such as new buildings, the refurbishment of existing buildings and equipment. The funding is available for projects that are is focused towards helping pupils to develop skills which would help them to gain employment or live independently after leaving school or college. The grants are made through the Wolfson Foundation’s Special Schools and Colleges grants programme. There is a 2-stage application process and the next stage 1 closing date is the 1st July 2021. Power to Change has teamed up with Crowdfunder to launch Community Business Crowdmatch to support new or existing community businesses responding to the Covid-19 crisis. The scheme will help community businesses, providing services or activities that help local people disproportionately affected due to the crisis, by match-funding each £1 raised, to a maximum of £10,000. Power to Change is keen to support new and existing projects in deprived areas and work with Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities across England. Funding could be used to support new ideas to help local neighbourhoods, help meet increased demand, save a community space or bridge a funding gap. Applications can be made at any time. Click here
Charitable organisations and care homes for the elderly can apply for grants of up to £250 for activities which provide musical entertainment and related activities for the elderly. Some of the charities that have received grants in the past include the Theatre Chipping Norton to help fund high calibre music recitals in six Care Homes in the area; and Sue Ryder Care, Lancashire to fund access to music therapy workshops at Birchley Hall near Wigan and St Helen’s.
