Community engagement charity Sobus is looking for talented, passionate individuals to join our Board of Trustees.  We are looking for general trustees and also an individual to become our new Trustee Treasurer to help guide the charity through a time of exciting opportunity and development.

 The overarching aim of Sobus is to “strengthen local communities”, through the provision of infrastructure support to the local voluntary sector in the borough of Hammersmith & Fulham and supporting business communities around our North Kensington hub.    

Our work is focused on five main areas:

  • Voice & Representation
  • Information & Intelligence
  • Brokerage & Partnerships
  • Capacity Building & Business Support
  • Affordable Premises (through the provision of our business hubs in Fulham and North Kensington)

Trustee Treasurer: We are seeking a committed individual with a proven, professional track record of financial management and leadership at the highest level, and a sound understanding and experience of the voluntary sector.  We need someone with significant experience of leading long-term strategic development and driving financial sustainability.

All Trustees: You will share our vision and want to take a leading role in our journey to be recognised as an outstanding organisation.  Ideally, you will be a Hammersmith & Fulham or North Kensington resident (or former resident), or have a tangible, established and current connection with the area.

Sobus was formed in 2014 following a merger between the Community & Voluntary Sector Association and Fulham Community Partnership Trust. However, we were first established as the local CVS in Hammersmith & Fulham in 1998.

Administrator

Highly motivated, positive & keen to learn new skills, Administrator required for a small West London Children’s charity, offering free counselling and therapy to children and families.

The candidate will be challenged by a demanding workload, undertaking and managing financial & administrative tasks supporting all areas of the charity, which need to be done with friendliness and patience.

You will need:

  • a sympathetic approach to vulnerable groups and a commitment to the aims of the charity
  • Excellent & proven secretarial / IT skills
  • To be highly numerate and comfortable with financial procedures
  • To manage and prioritise a varied workload supporting all aspects of the charity
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Warm and friendly attitude as a first point of contact with clients
  • To be willing to undergo training to enable completion of some of the tasks.

 

The Salary scale, dependent on experience is from £25,771 to £27,298

(from Point 2 to Point 6 on the NJC scale inc ILW)

 

12 months Fixed Term Contract (with possible renewal)

Join Carers Network to be part of our well-established Carers’ Hubs and work with the rest of the Team providing unpaid adult carers with individual support plans tailored to their needs, as well as developing relationships with partner organisations to raise awareness of carers’ rights and needs. We are looking for someone who is empathetic and confident to engage and support conversations around matters that are important to carers and to raise awareness of carers’ issues and rights with other professionals. You will also be a very organised individual, great at administration and have excellent IT skills. We are keen to attract former carers to join our team.

Our team is currently working on hybrid basis, with the opportunity to work from home and our offices near Queen’s Park tube station.

The ability to speak a community language would be advantageous.
