Funding for Special Schools and Colleges (UK)

Grants of up to £75,000 are available to special schools and colleges for children and young people with special educational needs. The funding is available for projects that are is focused towards helping pupils to develop skills which would help them to gain employment or live independently after leaving school or college. The funding is available towards capital costs such as new buildings, the refurbishment of existing buildings and equipment. The funding is being made through the Wolfson Foundation’s Special Schools and Colleges grants programme. There is a 2-stage application process and the next stage 1 closing date is the 5th January 2021. Funding to End Violence Against Women and Girls (London)

Organisations working to end violence against women and girls can apply for two-year grants of up to £100,000. The funding is available to build their resilience through capacity building, peer support and networking. Priority is given to applications from BME organisations focusing on ending violence against women and girls; women’s community organisations; and Specialist community organisations (e.g. disability rights groups providing services aimed at ending violence against women and girls. The funding is being made through the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Grassroots Fund. A total of £3 million is available. The closing date for applications is the 11th January 2021. Covid-19 School Holiday Activity Fund (London)

Grants of up to £4,000 are available to enable registered charities and mainstream state schools to deliver fun and accessible activities for children and young people during the school holidays. The John Lyon’s Charity’s Covid-19 School Holiday Activity Fund (SHAF) will pay for the running costs of holiday programmes which provide activities in accordance with current Government Guidelines for young people in the boroughs of Barnet, Brent, Camden, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster, City of London. Costs could include sessional staffing costs, transport for children with special needs and/or disabilities, digital delivery, equipment, and food during activities. Funding for Community Based Projects (UK and Overseas)

Grants of an average of £5,000 are available to charities working at community level in the UK and developing countries on causes which are less likely to be able to raise funds from public subscriptions. Grant making activity is directed largely at supporting work at community level; in the UK, this is concentrated on work that addresses issues around: Homelessness, Penal Affairs, Asylum Seekers and Refugees, and Community Based initiatives for Disadvantaged Young People Aged 16 to 25. Charities working in developing countries on community development, education and health can also apply. Asda Foundation – Feeding Communities Grant Scheme

In response to the pandemic, Asda Foundation has launched the Feeding Communities Grant Scheme to help provide meals to those in need in the run up to Christmas. Charities, not-for-profit companies, CICs and unincorporated clubs and associations can apply for a grant of up to £1,000 to provide meals or food hampers for individuals, families or children’s healthy holiday clubs. Funding to Provide Meals for those in Need in the Run Up to Christmas (UK)

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Asda Foundation has created the Feeding Communities Grant Scheme to provide meals for those in need in the run up to Christmas. Charities, community interest companies, unincorporated clubs or associations, and other not-for-profit organisations across the UK can apply for grants of up to £1,000 to provide meals costing £4 or less for individuals, families, and children’s healthy holiday clubs. Funding could be used to provide food parcels, Christmas meal delivery or collection, and Christmas hampers, or provide support for soup kitchens/homeless centres, and local community centres providing meal deliveries. Applications should be made through each local Asda store’s Community Champion whose role is to support projects. The deadline for applications is the 6th December 2020. Click here

Over £4 Million New Funding Available to Support London’s Civil Society Organisations Through the Second Lockdown (London)

London Community Response has announced that grants of up to £10,000 are now available to help groups to support Londoners affected by covid-19 over the winter months. For this funding round, priority will be given to organisations that are led by and for marginalised communities; that are trusted by people at high risk of negative impacts from covid-19; and groups that have a turnover of less than £1m a year. The funding will be available to both support people affected by Covid-19 as well as strengthening and supporting civil society organisations delivering essential services. To be eligible for funding activities must take place in and/or benefit people living in London or one or more of London’s 33 local authority areas. National organisations can apply but clearly show in their application how their proposed activities will benefit Londoners. Applications will be assessed on a first-come-first-served basis, with with a final deadline on the 3rd December 2020. Click here

London Community Response – Wave 4 Navigating Crisis Grant

London Community Response is a collection of funders in London working collaboratively to provide grants for organisations that are responding to the needs of communities in London affected by the pandemic. A fourth wave of funding has been announced with grants of up to £10,000 available. This round of funding is called the Navigating Crisis grant and it gives priority to the following:

• Organisations led by and for marginalised communities
• Groups who have a strong reach to people at high risk of negative impacts from Covid-19
• Smaller organisations with a turnover of up to £1 million a year

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Thursday 3 December 2020. Further information, including a list of activities the grant hopes to fund, can be found here.
