Grants of up to £15,000 are available to new and existing food partnerships to help them grow, diversify, become more sustainable and take forward initiatives that address food insecurity. These initiatives should address local need and focus on marginalised and excluded Londoners who have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. The Mayor of London has launched the Community-Led Recovery Programme that aims to work with communities that are disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic to lay foundations for the future. Applications are invited from user-led community, voluntary, faith, cultural, grassroots organisations working in Greater London. The programme will offer two grant schemes:
- Community-Led Action Grant: grants of up to £9,000 to initiate social action projects which gather new insights.
- London Community Story Grant: grants of up to £1,500 to organisations with existing projects that capture Londoner’s experience of COVID-19, supporting them to be presented and shared to a wider audience.

The National Lottery Community Fund’s Growing Great Ideas Fund has £25 million available to fund projects that support long-term societal change and are future-focussed. The National Lottery Community Fund wants to invest in different combinations of people, communities, networks and organisations over the long term that demonstrate an ability to seed and grow alternative systems, develop and test new ways of building a stronger civil society, and to learn and adapt as they go. This could involve developing new ideas on how the economy could work or how society could be organised. Charities, CICs, CIOs, and voluntary, community and other not-for-profit organisations are invited to apply for grants of up to £150,000. The minimum length for projects is two years. Local charities, community groups and other not for profit organisations affected by the pandemic can apply for grants of up to £25,000 of last resort to protect at-risk spaces such as cultural, youth and education centres, and social clubs. A total of £750,000 is available through the Community Spaces at Risk support programme which also provides one-to-one crisis support, specialist business and property advice. Registered London charities that are working with people with long term health conditions, mental ill-health or addictions can apply for grant of up to £10,000 to support their work. The funding is being made available through London Catalyst which runs a number of different grant making programmes. The next grant scrutiny meeting is on the 11th May 2021. Applicants are advised to submit bids at least four weeks prior to the meeting. This is for applications to the Project Grants and the Samaritan grants programme. To be eligible to apply, charities must be working with an expert health agency/provider and priority will be given to groups with an annual income of less than £250,000. Click here

The £16.5 million Youth Covid-19 Support Fund is open to grassroots youth clubs, uniformed youth groups, and national youth and umbrella organisations in England, to help to mitigate the impact of lost income during the winter period due to the coronavirus pandemic, and ensure services providing vital support can remain open. Not for profit organisations such as community organisations, charities, schools and social enterprises in England can apply for grants of over £10,000 for up to five years to develop a more strategic approach to improving their community by developing and growing new and existing partnerships. During the current Coronavirus crisis, The National Lottery Community Fund will support people and communities most adversely impacted by COVID-19. Support is available to continue to deliver activity to existing users, responding to the immediate crisis or undertaking recovery activity and to change and adapt, becoming more resilient in order to respond to new and future challenges.
