A new round of funding of the trust’s Covid-19 Response Fund opened on the 1st January. Grants are available to UK charities that have a focus on alleviating social deprivation and helping vulnerable groups who have been particularly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Social Investment Business has announced that their Resilience and Recovery Loan Fund will close to new applications at 11.59pm on the 31st March 2021. The £25 million fund provides emergency loans of between £100,000 to £1,500,000 with no fees or interest for the first twelve months to social enterprises and charities which are facing financial difficulty and disruption to their trading due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Fund is intended to provide working capital until normal business can resume for organisations that are improving people’s lives across the UK. Loans, which are backed by the Government’s existing Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme, could be used to cover delays in trade payments, or for business modification to meet increase in service demand. The Mayor of London has launched a new grant award and capacity building programme to develop partnerships led by and for groups who have been disproportionally affected by Covid-19. The Civil Society Roots Incubator programme will offer two grant streams to charities, community groups, social enterprises and other not for profit organisations: Micro Awards, which will also be open to individuals, will provide up to £5,000 for early-stage projects addressing gaps in community response; and up to £15,000 will be available through Growth Awards to help collaborations and/or partnerships that have developed during the emergency response become more sustainable. Grantees will join a 6-month incubator programme with a curriculum and bespoke support, which will develop the partnerships and skills of those involved. Grants of up to £20,000 are available to black-led grassroot organisations and projects in the UK that are working to eliminate barriers to progress for black women and girls. The funding is being made available through the Crown Fund UK; an initiative supported by Dove to help eradicate race-based hair discrimination and drive real and actionable change. Funding is available for projects that address appearance based prejudice and discrimination; education and vocational training; emotional or psychological health; empowerment; individual growth and success; leadership and career planning; mentorship; and advocacy. The fund will open for applications on the 4th January 2021 and close at 5pm on the 21st January 2021.
Community group, charities and grass root organisations can apply for funding to raise awareness of the Windrush Scheme, the Windrush Compensation Scheme or both. A total of £500,000 is available; and eligible organisations can apply for grants of between £2,500 and £25,000 for activities including holding events; producing and distributing marketing materials; accessing and using communication channels; and securing support from partners. The funding is being made available through the Home Office and the closing date for applications is 11.59 pm on the 12th February 2021. Click here
Small charities, schools and community interest groups with innovative ideas that benefit their community can apply for funding of up to £50,000 for projects that build more connected, more resilient communities; and give people the tools to become more financially independent. The funding is being made available through the newly re-launched Aviva Community Fund. Every three months from January onwards, £250,000 will be split equally among Aviva’s UK employees to donate to the projects that matter to them most. Applications are open on a continuous basis and are reviewed every three months. The closing date for this round is the 26th January 2021. Aviva have teamed up with the fundraising platform Crowdfunder and applicants can add to any donations they get from the Aviva Community Fund with public donations. Click here

The Paul Hamlyn Foundation and Comic Relief have announced they will open another round of funding for their Tech for Good programme in January 2021. Grants of up to £70,000 will be available to not-for-profit organisations that are defining, testing, or developing user-centred digital solutions to address social needs (see here for further details on social issues supported). ‘Applications that aim to adapt or re-purpose existing technology are also actively encouraged’.
