The Barrow Cadbury Trust has re-opened the COVID-19 Support Fund. The fund provides emergency response funding to organisations suffering acute financial difficulties as a result of the pandemic and operating within the Specialist Migration Sector. The fund originally closed for applications on the 2nd August 2020 but had fewer application than expected. This, the second round of applications has also extended the eligibility criteria. The programme is now open to organisations with an income of £10,000 to £3 million that provide services and support targeted at refugees and migrants. This includes organisations that only work with these groups and those that have more general objects but are seeking to maintain or expand existing services targeted at refugees and migrants. The maximum organisations can apply for is £50,000 or three months’ expenditure, whichever is the smaller. Social Investment Business and Access – The Foundation for Social Investment have announced an extra £4 million of grant funding to be used alongside The Resilience and Recovery Loan Fund to support charities and social enterprises working in England. Find out more.

Registered London charities that are working with people with long term health conditions, mental ill-health or addictions can apply for grant of up to £10,000 to support their work. The funding is being made available through London Catalyst which runs a number of different grant making programmes. The next grant scrutiny meeting is on the 11th November 2020. Applicants are advised to submit bids at least four weeks prior to the meeting. This is for applications to the Project Grants and the Samaritan grants programme. To be eligible to apply, charities must be working with an expert health agency/provider and priority will be given to groups with an annual income of less than £250,000.Click here

Grants of between £500 and £10,000 per year are available to Christian Charities that encourage social inclusion through ministries of healing and the arts. Funding can be awarded for up to three years. The Foundation will consider applications for either capital or revenue funding. Only in exceptional circumstances will grants be given for building work. The funding is being made available through the Anchor Foundation and the next deadline for applications is the 31st January 2021. Click here

UK-registered charities that work towards combating abuse and violations of human rights can apply for grants of up to £20,000. Applications are particularly welcomed from charities working to support migrants, refugees and asylum seekers; criminal justice and penal reform; and human rights, particularly access to justice. The funding is being made available through the A B Charitable Trust. The Trust generally makes one-off grants to charities registered and working in the UK with annual incomes of between £150,000 and £1.5m that do not have substantial investments or surpluses. Local homelessness organisations that require emergency financial assistance can apply for grants of up to £100,000 to the COVID-19 Homelessness Response Fund. A total funding pot of £5.5 million is available. The funding aims to provide emergency financial assistance to local homelessness organisations, preventing closure, service cuts or staff redundancies threatened by increased operational costs and a loss of fundraised income due to the Coronavirus. It will also support organisations that have needed to expand or adapt their services in light of COVID-19 to support people experiencing homelessness safely and effectively. The funding is available to organisations with a turnover of less than £5 million per year, The deadline to apply to the Comic Relief funding stream is the 14th September 2020 for decisions made in mid-October. Small charities and community interest groups with innovative ideas that benefit their community can apply for funding of up to £50,000 for projects that build more connected, more resilient communities; and give people the tools to become more financially independent. The funding is being made available through the newly re-launched Aviva Community Fund. Every three months from January onwards, £250,000 will be split equally among Aviva’s UK employees to donate to the projects that matter to them most. The closing date for this funding round is the 13th October 2020. Aviva have teamed up with the fundraising platform Crowdfunder and applicants can add to any donations they get from the Aviva Community Fund with public donations. Click here

The £1m Phoenix Fund will support Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic charities and groups in England that are working in the heart of their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
