The workshop aims to improve the understanding of complex protection issues facing refugee children including issues of Domestic violence, Sexual exploitation, Female Genital mutilation and abuse related to witchcraft; by raising the awareness of these issues and the roles and responsibilities of service providers, decision makers and voluntary and community organisations in ensuring the protection and safeguarding of children and young people.

The workshop will also include an overview of the rights that refugee children and young people have under the Equality Act 2010; and the duties that are imposed on children’s services and voluntary and community organisations (such as MRCOs) when they are carrying out their functions and providing services.
